Lyrics (His Father's Picture)
The lyrics below are from Christian's 2024 album, His Father's Picture
First it was you
First it was you
Now I’ll take up the fight
Two candles shining in the night
And so it grows
The simple glow calls out to more
And over time the light that shines
Becomes the dawn

So Many Stars
You and I belong up in the sky
Cos what’s the point of life lived on the ground?
The stage is set to project emptiness
Onto vacant heads that just look down
Round and round we go then go again, lets pretend
Someone said something worthwhile
If there’s so many stars in the sky
Where’s all the light that can guide me home?
Home.
Me and you, you know were different to
The others in the zoo.. we’re not that kind
Every flame can’t flicker just the same
But most of them these days aren’t even fire
Round and down we go then down again, lets pretend
We’re on some kind of thrilling ride
If there’s so many stars in the sky
Where’s all the light that can guide me home.
Home.
Home.
You and me we’re not the same at all
Cos I can hear the silent call
Even shooting stars are made to shine
As they die
If there’s so many stars in the sky
Where is all the light?
To guide me home

Tidal Wave
It feels your life is like a wave
That crashes over you every hour of every day
And all the while you cling to signs
That tell you who’s to blame, its never your mistake
The storms that rage can’t be tamed
Everyone who tries to save you
Crashes on the rocks that made you
What you are
A jagged heart
And as their bodies wash away
You wonder why they didn’t stay
As one by one they make a tidal wave
You act as though you’re good to go
But you’re always standing still and I guess you always will
Too much time alone gets in your bones
The reflection that you hate carries its own weight
The storms that rage can’t be tamed
Everyone who tries to save you
Crashes on the rocks that made you
What you are
A jagged heart
And as their bodies wash away
You wonder why they didn’t stay
As one by one they make a tidal wave
You treat everyone and everything
like its in your way
You’re turning love to hate
What happens on the day you finally get your way?
Everyone who tries to save you
Crashes on the rocks that made you
What you are
A jagged heart
And as their bodies wash away
You wonder why they didn’t stay
As one by one they make a tidal wave

Bend and Break
Take my hand and stay
I can bend your way
And try to say all the words you need me to say
Just stay
Take some time to think
Don’t destroy this
I’ll try to be all the things you need me to be
Just stay
I’ll bend your way
I’ll bend and break again
Lie a while with me
Close your eyes and see
The greatest play you can make
Is simply to breathe and be
I’ll bend your way
I’ll bend and break again
Take some time to work this out
Find a foothold in the doubt
We can turn this thing around
I’ll bend your way
I’ll bend and break again
Take my hand and stay
Tomorrow’s a new day
The light will mend all the bends and breaks that we make
Just stay

Cafe Hafa
I'm wandering the streets with absolutely no place to be
Just me hanging with myself
I guess I'm kind of lost but Im really kind of not I’m just free
Unseen by everybody else
I find myself in Cafe Hafa looking out across the sea
I’ve got no space for regret or hate and I can feel my spirit rising free
Ive got my headphones on and I belong, everything in harmony
I can feel the smile from my inner child and I'm finally in love with me
I'm seeing what you’ve seen and I know you’re looking back through me
Sweet treats long before you went away
I can feel the hand of fate cos it brought me to this place
And I know it will bring you back someday
I find myself in Cafe Hafa looking out across the sea
I’ve got no space for regret or hate and I can feel my spirit rising free
I've got my headphones on and I belong, everything in harmony
I can feel the smile from my inner child and I'm finally in love with me
I’m finally in love with me
I’m finally free
I find myself in Cafe Hafa looking out across the sea
I’ve got no space for regret or hate and I can feel my spirit rising free
I've got my headphones on and I belong, everything in harmony
I can feel the smile from my inner child and I'm finally in love with me

The Devil's Only Friend
I hailed your arrival
Drank long into the night
I once was a disciple
But I've long since seen the light
Time won’t be your healer and the pain will never end
When you become the Devil’s only friend
Sometimes its hard to stay true
to the person deep within
The clothes you only borrowed
Can soon become your skin
Power won’t protect you from the things you can’t defend
When you become the Devil’s only friend
Now so many different voices are dying to be heard
And the echo of their silence will be their final word
This is your creation and this is how it ends
When you become the Devil’s only friend

One Lost Soul
We’re just one lost soul
torn down the centre fold
Lets take these halves
and make them whole
Feels like forever I've had to play
unwanted roles in broken games
Imprisoned by the lie that makes us stay
I saw a better man and riches too
The life I wanted, stood in his shoes
I walked around, I felt the sound, then I saw you
I asked the universe to give me all the things I’d seen
The pictures pave the way for me
We’re just one lost soul
torn down the centrefold
Let's take these halves
and make them whole
I can feel my love in you
and I somehow know you feel it too
If it takes forever
well that’s the path I choose
I surrender to it all
I'm getting closer everyday
I know its gong to come my way
We’re just one lost soul
torn down the centrefold
Let's take these halves
and make them whole
Just one soul apart
With one beating heart
Let's take these halves and make them whole
One lost soul

His Father's Picture
The broken clock chimes 10 o’clock
and the artist stops and stares
at what must be a spirit so free he
still has the power to heal
He knows it's a sign to say I’m alive and well
I just moved on
And have no fear cos its beautiful here
There is life after skins gone
The church was full of strangers
One day when he’s found love
He’s gonna paint his Father's picture
And they’re gonna stand man to man
And reminisce for a while
And he’s gonna get years of joy and regret into those gentle eyes
And feel all the sweat that dripped onto those decks to recreate the lines
The way that he stands and the power in his hands and yet such a soft touch
And the ability to make friends instantly or just sit back and watch
The church was full of strangers
One day when he’s found love
He’s gonna paint his Fathers picture
And they’re gonna stand man to man
And reminisce for a while
Yeah the church was full of strangers to the artist's eye
None of them were strangers to the love in his life
One day when he’s found love
He’s gonna paint his Fathers picture
And they’re gonna stand man to man
And reminisce for a while
For a while

Love isn't Enough
We can’t let go of holding on
Echos don’t belong
With every wave they fade
until they’re gone
We made fire and we made rain
Went all the way then back again
Rain turned to ice
Fire into dust
I guess sometimes love isn’t enough
Stretching out on the floor
So you can’t fall down anymore
You’ll find new life when you rise
and take what’s yours
We made fire and we made rain
Went all the way then back again
Rain turned to ice
Fire into dust
I guess sometimes love isn’t enough
You’re in no mans land
Drink in hand
And that’s no place for love
You’ve gotta strip to the bone
Face yourself on your own
Forgive the lies you hide
then let them go
We made fire and we made rain
Went all the way then back again
Rain turned to ice
Fire into dust
I guess sometimes love isn’t enough

Hold This Last Goodbye
Now you’re gone
I hear your song in the heart of me
Lost memories
Floating free, finally
So much to say
but it drifts away as I reach for you
I don’t want to talk it over
I just want to feel this pain inside
And hold it where we lie
There’s nothing to say I can’t fight this
No way to breathe it back to life
So I’ll hold this last goodbye
The love you gave
was my shade and sanctuary
But now its time
To become what I was made to be
There’s a thread of gold in every story told
And it was sewn by you
I don’t want to talk it over
I just want to feel this pain inside
And hold it where we lie
There’s nothing to say I can’t fight this
No way to breathe it back to life
So I’ll hold this last goodbye
I’ll take my soul
turn it into gold
save what’s left of me
